I choose to explore grief by helping my family member write an obituary for my cousin whom I grew up around during my pre-teen years. Although my cousin and I didn’t hang out much, I observed their life and understood why they were the way they were. Vicente was a free spirit that couldn’t wait to get out into the world and make it his own.
Vicente Antonio Martinez was born on August 18, 1993, in Santa Ana, California at the South Coast Global Medical Center South Coast Global Medical Center. He was only 31 years old when he passed away peacefully on February 22, 2025, in South Carolina. Vicente is described by his mother as a loving, kind, thoughtful and passionate man. He put passion into everything he did and loved helping others.
Growing up he had always loved skateboarding, movies, music, art and food. He took pride in his style, even as a teenager his cousins remember him having a cool style. The famous super skinny jeans, the trendy flannels from Zumiez, a backwards hat with his reddish-orange hair sticking out the sides. It was ICONIC.
As an adult he started to draw, posting snippets of his art on Instagram, he was a talented artist who saw the truth of the world through his blue eyes.
He will forever be loved by his mother Alicia P. Nava, his papa Humberto Nava, sisters Alicia Rich and Samantha Nava. His grandparents, aunts and uncles, nephews, cousins, nieces and friends will all miss him dearly. His memory will continue to be carried in the hearts of his loved ones.
“Stay Golden.”
The mother wished to share a prayer named Seeking Peace:
Dear Lord, in this time of immense sorrow, we ask for Your peace to fill our hearts. Help us to find comfort in Your presence and to trust in Your plan, even when we don’t understand. Amen.
